Innocent Smile School
Innocent Smile School (ISS), based at Hope Centre, Monday Market, Senapati District,
Manipur, is an institute-based and community-based rehabilitation and education
programme for children and young people with special needs. It grew out of
MANEDA’s Community-Based Rehabilitation (CBR) work, which began in 2003, and
was established as a dedicated rehabilitation and education centre in 2013 — combining
education, rehabilitation, community awareness, health and livelihood support,
home-based therapy, and advocacy for the rights of persons with disabilities.

Programme Highlights (2025)
- Institution-based rehabilitation: 21 children supported — 6 in elementary education, 7 in pre-primary, and 8 receiving early intervention services
- Community-based rehabilitation: 12 children received home-based physiotherapy support, including children with physical disabilities and Down syndrome
- 5-day capacity-building training for 4 staff at Shishu Sarothi, Guwahati (January 2025)
- Baseline survey identifying 74 individuals with disabilities (27 female, 47 male) across villages near the district headquarters (February 2025)
- Parents' Counselling and Training Programme supporting families of children with disabilities
- One-day training for 30 ASHA and Anganwadi workers on early identification and referral of children with disabilities (5 November 2025)
- Parents' Day cum Cultural Celebration (13 November 2025) and Children's Day Celebration at Jamning Valley Resort (14 November 2025)
- 22nd International Day of Persons with Disabilities observed at Hope Centre with 77 participants (3 December 2025)
