Overview
Who We Are
Manipur North Economic Development Association (MANEDA) is a registered,
non-profit, non-governmental organisation based in Senapati District, Manipur,
founded in 1991. MANEDA works with vulnerable and marginalised tribal
communities through rights-based, participatory approaches — addressing injustice
and inequality by promoting inclusion, education, health, livelihood, gender equity,
disability rights and youth empowerment.
MANEDA collaborates with Central and State Government ministries; national donors
such as Childline India Foundation, Azim Premji Foundation and Sir Dorabji Tata
Trust; and international donors including Light for the World, IGSSS, ActionAid,
Liliane Fonds, Women’s Asia Fund, Paul Hamlyn Foundation, Terre des Hommes and
the Omega Resilience Awards (ORA). Our approach integrates community-driven
development, inter-sectoral partnership and long-term sustainability, and MANEDA is
known for deep grassroots engagement and local trust across the district.

A society free from poverty in which every person can exercise his/her rights to lead a dignified life.
Our Mission
To work with the marginalised and vulnerable groups of society to eradicate poverty by
overcoming the injustice and inequality exerted on them that cause it.
Our Approach
MANEDA believes strongly in people’s participatory development. Communities are
involved in identifying problems, planning collective action and evaluating their
progress on a rights basis — with the belief that people themselves should have a
meaningful role in addressing the issues that affect their lives.
Working with limited resources and in collaboration with like-minded partners,
MANEDA seeks to strengthen collective and self-help initiatives among poor and
marginalised communities, integrating inter-sectoral partnership and long-term
sustainability into its work.
